There are some journals that carry more than paper and glue, they carry versions of ourselves that got lost along the way. The Rose Remnant is one of those. Originally, this was meant to be the junk journal project I completed in my first crafting series Elera’s Garden of Dreams, crafted alongside my viewers, filled with storytelling, vision boards, and community. I had just rebooted my channel, buzzing with new ideas and ready to bloom. But life, as it tends to do, had other plans. First came a layoff. Then, just as I was regaining my footing, I got pulled into a relationship that made me abandon myself creatively and emotionally. I stopped filming. I stopped crafting. I disconnected from the very thing that had brought me peace. And so, The Rose Remnant sat quietly in a drawer, waiting. The journal itself is based on a fictional character named Elera and her garden. The full story is on the OneHornLA Blog. Now, coming back to this journal is... complicated. It's nostalgic. It’s frustrating. It’s beautiful. It’s flawed. What I’ve found inside The Rose Remnant is a mirror: of past excitement, of innocent mistakes, of resilience. It’s messy, imperfect, and still kind of magical — just like healing. This journal was supposed to mark the beginning of a new chapter for my art, but that chapter took a long detour. Now it has resurfaced during a time of need for me, as I navigate a failed relationship and several personal detours.
